Road-Tripped by Nicole Archer
Heart Rating 4.5 out of 5!!
I haven’t laughed out loud that many times in a book in a long time! Callie is funny as hell and I love her spark, vulnerability and loyalty to her friends and sister. Walker is just as awesome. Swoon-worthy and full of southern sayings that made me gaffaw out loud.
Callie just wants to get on with her new life, new job and be left the hell alone by grade-A douchebags. Like Walker the office bike.
Walker slaps a smile on his face and walks into the job he hates every day and can’t take it anymore. As soon as the next project is complete – he’s out. In the meantime he has to convince Callie that she has the wrong impression of him…
After an unfortunate turn of events, Callie is roped in to seeing the project through with Walker. Which she wouldn’t mind, but it involves being with him 24hrs a day for the duration of a road trip that she can’t back out of.
I am new to Archer’s work and have to say, that I was pleasantly surprised and honestly felt so invested in these characters that I cried, laughed and hoped with them. And laughed at them a little too haha.
The book also has a soundtrack – which I thought was awesome! AND if you buy the ebook (I had the ebook vers.) then you can CLICK on the song at the start of each chapter – How well thought out is that!
Not only did I love the main characters, there was a real sense of love with the secondary characters too, even though we didn’t see a lot of them, they were so vital in the understanding of the entire storyline that I thought it was so well thought out.
Archer’s quirkiness and emotional pulls at my heartstrings have made me a new stalker of her work.
I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed in this funny, steamy, HEA romance.
First Kiss – Ann Marie Frohoff
Heart Rating – 4 out of 5!!
This book is the first in the Heavy Influence series. You can catch the prequel Skid Out in my earlier reviews on here!
I really enjoyed this book, even though it isn’t something that I’d normally go for. The dual POV is something I really enjoyed because I could look into the character’s thoughts and feelings directly.
Frohoff highlights so many concerns, obstacles and issues that teenagers have to deal with. It wasn’t that long ago that I was a teenager myself and having to make decisions around peer pressure, true friends and the boy I loved (and still do 😉 ).
There were points in the book that I could 100% relate to personally. Even when I couldn’t personally relate, Frohoff’s emotive descriptions drew me right into the way Jake and Alyssa felt at that time.
Alyssa for me, is a typical teenage girl who wants so much more from her adult life – but wants to have all the experience of a high school girl too. She just doesn’t want the negativity around her relationship with Jake.
The author really made it apparent that although Alyssa is sometimes a little immature, she also has such depth that makes me look forward to the next books when she is older and less interested in the high school experience.
Jake faces so many issues in this book and I loved how the author tackled these issues. Jake tries so hard to follow his heart and do what he feels is right – but I felt the frustration he had when things didn’t work out the way he’d hoped.
I won’t mention the issues faced within this book – cause y’know, spoilers haha.
I will say that I felt that this installment of the Heavy Influence series was really nicely written and I really loved Jake and how he tries so hard to make everything in his life balance out. I also liked Alyssa’s strength, but somehow I couldn’t let her relationships with others in the book slide.
There is no cheating in this book though!
As I said, this isn’t normally the type of book that I’d go for but the blurb sucked me in and I actually really enjoyed the story as a whole. I look forward to reading the other instalments to see how things pan out for these two beautifully disjointed couple, and keep my fingers crossed that the right time happens for them both.

A must-read that will have you questioning all your emotions as you fall in love with this unforgettable story.” – New York Times bestselling author, AL Jackson
From New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams comes a powerhouse romantic suspense that will have you questioning your morals and second guessing your view on love.
I live in a world few know exist. I’ve trained for this. I know what to say, what to do, and how to act. I’ve perfected the lethal calm required for this life.
Now it’s time to buy my first girl. But all it takes is one look at the brave girl who starts singing mid-auction for that calm to slip.
Briar Chapman is going to be the death of me, and I don’t care. I’ll take every day with her until that death comes, and I’ll welcome it when it does.
On the outside, Lucas Holt is what nightmares are made of. A man cloaked in darkness, with sin-filled eyes and an enticing grin. A devil so devastatingly beautiful and cruel that his very presence instills fear.
But beneath his terrifying, ever-calm exterior is an affectionate man haunted by a past that refuses to stay buried. And Lucas looks at me as though he’s finally found the only person who can make it all go away.
We’re a battle of the brightest day and the darkest night—and I want to lie in the wake of our war.

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband, daughter, and fur babies. When she’s not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and fried pickles, and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm … or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren’t really happening.

Jax – J.L Perry
Heart Rating – 5 out of 5!!
The name Jax means something special to me, so from the word go I was intrigued by the blurb.
This is definitely one of my favourite books all year.
Jax has never fit in. Unless it was with his best friend Candice. His family think he is a disgrace, no matter what he does. But Candice is always there. The beautiful best friend he loves more than anything. And has done from day one.
Candice has always loved her best friend Jax and has been in love with him from the moment they struck up a conversation. She can never tell him though. He would never commit for her. Would he?
After a long platonic period in their friendship, both give in to wanting more. Elation is the only word for Jax’s emotions. Until he runs. Candice is crushed. Heartbroken.
Until one day, fate and a good deed done by Jax brings the two together again. Can they make it work this time? Will Jax or Candice ever be brave enough to say those three little words that mean so much?
I started this book thinking that I wouldn’t find Jax very relatable. His family are awful and I have never experienced that. It takes a lot for an author to get me on board with disliking a character’s family because it is really difficult for me to picture. That is until JL Perry immersed me in to Jax’s world.
This novel is written in dual POV but mainly from Jax’s perspective. Which is so amazing. This isn’t your typical “guy won’t commit for anyone” story. There are feelings and reasons behind Jax’s decisions – he isn’t a typical douche.
I fell in love with Jax’s character almost immediately because of JL’s writing style. I had never read any of her books before, so I wasn’t prepared for the flawless content.
Candice was such a beautiful girl/woman and I empathised, cried and took tantrums with her throughout. Her heart of gold and love for Jax (among a couple of other things you’ll have to read about for yourself) were what made me love Candice so much.
There are so many twists and turns in this novel that you are never bored or skim-reading until the next interesting part. The main characters are so plentiful that you feel you aren’t just in the story between Candice and Jax, but their entire lives. It isn’t just about the time that they are interacting with each other and the background characters are just as big and loveable as the main ones.
Jax, Candice and co will forever be one of my favourite groups of characters. And once you read the book – you will understand why I have said that the writing style is FLAWLESS!!
This book is out today guys so please grab it! And support JL Perry and her amazing work.
And JL Perry is such a sweetheart too – I love genuine people!

Jax. Has. Landed. And his story is one you won’t want to miss….
Here’s the Blurb and some other bits!
My name is Jaxson Albright. To my friends I’m known as Jax. I’m the disgraced son of well-known Politician, Malcom Albright. You could say I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I was supposed to follow in my father’s footsteps and move into politics. My whole childhood was spent being groomed for this role, but that wasn’t what I wanted. I had other plans.
To my family’s disgust, I’m inked, I’m pierced and I own and run a tattoo parlour, in the hip suburb of Newtown. I fit in here. I can be the man I was destined to be, the man my family are ashamed of. The son they regret having.
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my saviour, Candice. My pink-haired angel. We grew up in the same circle, but like me, she’s an outcast. She refused to conform to society’s ways. She’s the only one who stuck by me and not only encouraged, but supported my dream.
I love her. No, correction—I’m in love with her. I have been for as long as I can remember. She has no idea how I feel. It’s a battle I struggle with daily. I’ve kept my secret all these years because I couldn’t risk losing her. That’s a chance I’m not prepared to take, because she’s my best friend; my only real family.
I’ve spent the last few years moving from one hot chick to the next, trying to mask these feeling I have. But it doesn’t help—I can’t get her out of my head. She still owns my damn heart.
How do you get over the girl you know you can never have? And how do you live without the one person on this earth who is made for you?
She’s my soulmate.

Skid Out by Ann Marie Frohoff
Heart rating – 4 out of 5!!
Jake is on the path he’s always dreamed of. Making his band successful. So close, he can practically taste it. At the age of 18, he can’t wait to spread his wings in the music scene and bring his music to people.
Alyssa is 14 and cannot wait to begin her high school career. No longer will she be seen as a “kid” and finally will be able to experience a new level of maturity. A chance meeting between her next door neighbor-turned childhood friend, has her realizing that her age and social status isn’t the only thing that is changing.
Jake and Alyssa catch up on old times and as they start to wiggle their way back into the routine of their friendship, they soon realize it isn’t as simple as friendship. With obstacles like age, aspirations and other people in the way – will Jake and Alyssa be able to be more than friends?
This is a prequel to First Kiss. I love prequels because it really gives me a sense of who these characters are before their story becomes intertwined.
Jake is so sweet and humble, as well as driven and knows exactly what he wants from his music career. The internal conflict he feels over his strange new relationship with his ex-best friend’s little sister was almost tangible.
Alyssa is a typical 14-year-old girl, who cannot wait to see what the fuss is about on the high school scene and the feelings she has to try to cope with now that she realizes that boys aren’t appearing how they used to. Jake in particular.
The prequel eludes to how Jake and Alyssa become involved in each other’s lives again and how things have changed since the last time they connected. This is a lovely little first love story and I am almost finished First Kiss (where the story continues) and would recommend this to anyone who likes YA Romances or first love stories.

For the next three hours I’m swamped answering calls—thankfully no more real estate agents—and helping anyone that comes in while trying to finalize the boys’ events for the next month. When that damn bell chimes for the hundredth time today, I plaster a forced smile on my face and glance up. When my eyes finally focus on the man walking through the door, the smile vanishes and my jaw falls open.
What the actual fuck?
His head is high as he looks around, studying the room. After giving the gym a quick onceover, his gaze finally lands on where I’m seated behind the desk. Our eyes meet and my heart hammers, the pounding so loud I fear he can hear it from across the room. I tear my gaze away from his and scan his body, surprised at the physical reaction I’m having to him.
With a slight shake of my head, I slap my palms on the paper-covered wood, and shove out of my chair, causing it to shoot out at least ten feet behind me. “You have some nerve walking in here.”
He stops in his tracks and blinks at me before an easy smile crosses his face. “Rebecca Toler. Shoulda known I’d see you here.” He drawls as he continues walking toward me.
My pulse is pounding in my ears and my stomach is practicing its floor routine for the Olympics as I stare at the man in front of me. Taking a minute to appreciate his strong jaw line that’s covered in scruff, I notice that his hair is in desperate need of a trim as it falls across one eye.
Fuck, he’s sexy.
He always had been. Regardless how much it pains me to admit it. Though his looks weren’t why I wanted to full body hurl him from the building. Memories of our last interaction flood my mind, along with the hurt and anger I’d felt.
“How ya been, Reb?” he asks with a familiarity he doesn’t have.
His use of my nickname, a familiarity he doesn’t have––or deserve––causes me to snap childishly, “Who said you could call me that?”
He grins, but doesn’t reply.
Fuck, that grin is hot.
“What are you doing in Atlanta, Ryker?” I ask, attitude still thick in my voice.
He takes his time looking me over and my body betrays me by flushing at the attention. His eyes are appreciative of what they see, but strangely enough, it doesn’t feel like he’s ogling me.
He steps forward and shoves his hands in the pockets of his washed out jeans that hang low on his hips. “Well, I was in town and thought I’d stop in and say hello to my buddy Breccan. Seeing you is an unexpected bonus.” His lips tip up in a smile and my stomach flips again.
“Your buddy?” I hiss through clenched teeth while attempting not to let my gaze linger on his pants any longer. The thought of Ryker and Breccan ever being buddies would have been funny, if I wasn’t too shocked to laugh.
His gaze finally makes it back to mine and he nods once.
For a few moments we simply stare at each other, him smiling while I scowl.

Crazy for You – Heatherly Bell
Heart Rating 4.5 out of 5! A lovely cosy Christmas love story…
He needs a break. She needs a date.
What do a washed-up L.A. cop and a celebrity hair stylist have in common? Christmas magic.
Fallon McQueen needs a date to a wedding. The pickings at the speed dating events she’s attended are slim indeed, and it doesn’t help that she has someone specific in mind…
Then she meets…Santa Claus.
Jack Cooper is tired of the big city. He needs a break from the streets of L.A. But when he stops a deadbeat from breaking and entering, he’s simply trying to do a good deed. But now he has a hot but crazy blonde asking him to be her date to a destination wedding.
But if Jack is going to help, they’re going to do it his way…
This festive story made my heart feel fuzzy. I loved Fallon. She wants so badly to prove to everyone that she can do this, maybe even prove to herself. Fallon takes a beautiful journey with Jack learning who she is and who she wants to be might just be the same thing.
The premise of the novel is that Fallon and Jack team up to allow Fallon to save face in front of her family at a wedding. Usually the way these stories start can be a little unrealistic – but one of the things I loved about Crazy For You was that it was totally believable. Not a billionaire, nor a struggling artist, no cliché needed, just great writing.
Jack was such a strong, likable guy with the protective trait built in. He doesn’t expect to get anything more out of the trip with Fallon than some laughs, but he might be in for more this festive season than he expects.
My feels were well and truly exercised in this book. The alternating POV allowed us to be immersed in Fallon and Jack’s reasoning for taking this crazy opportunity.
I laughed, smiled and cried with this book. It won’t be a book that will make you ugly cry – but it will be one that will cause a bit of leakage! 😉
There is an excerpt down below, so please take a look and share the love with Heatherly.
