Fugly Review

Fugly by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

4-5hearts

Heart Rating 4.5 out of 5!!

This was such a different plot and I couldn’t get enough of it!

Ok so here’s how it starts…

Lily is a driven, determined, sweet young woman who is happy with who she is. She is at peace with the stares, the comments and the horrified looks on people’s faces when they realise that she’s not what they’d pictured. She’s ugly. But being ugly isn’t gonna stop her from going for her dream job – oh no.

Max is successful, handsome, wealthy and has an interview to do. On paper, the person is over-qualified but he stops dead in his tracks when Lily Snow walks in. She isn’t qualified anymore. Not one bit.

Well, not for the original post anyhow. After Lily is outraged and upset that she didn’t get her dream job because she isn’t “pretty” enough, she is taken aback by the latest opportunity Max offers. And it is nothing you would have ever have guessed…

I really enjoy Mimi’s books and so when I read the start of Fugly it had my heckles up. I thought “how dare he be such an a**hole!” and wondered how Mimi would turn this round and make me love Max’s character.

This book has lots of twists and turns and I was so hooked that I finished it in one sitting. Lily is admirable with how she views herself and it made me realise that “beauty” is just a concept. And people’s concepts and opinions of concepts change. Sort of like my concept of time hahaha.

The end of the book leads to book 2, which I cannot wait to read. But it’s not the kind of novel that you will hate because of the ending. If that makes sense. I thought this was such a different, clever story-line that I had to give it 4.5, because it is nothing like I’ve ever read before.

The only thing I would have loved more of was the description of Lily’s face (we do get a snippet), but it certainly does not take away from the story overall.

Dreamers, this awesome book is FREE right now – so go grab your copy ASAP!! =)
